Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance Headquarters has MOVED...about 400 feet. We've expanded beyond our old home (since 2005!) and have moved down the street to a larger space to allow us to house our growing staff and keep all our gear in one spot (goodbye storage space fees!).

Wilderness Bill SB 3205 – Evergreen's Stance (and WHY) Earlier this year, the Sustainable Trails Coalition launched an effort to update the Wilderness Act to allow mountain biking in both Congressionally designated and newly proposed wilderness areas. They have drafted Senate Bill 3205: Human-Powered Travel in Wilderness Areas Act Bill (SB 3205), which was recently introduced and co-sponsored by Utah Senators Mike Lee and Orrin Hatch. SB 3205 would allow mountain bike access in wilderness areas on a case-by-case basis.  The New York Times released an article about the bill this week, and Pinkbike has released an informational three-part series (1, 2, & 3) about the Sustainable Trails Coalition’s efforts.   Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance has been tracking SB 3205 closely and has communicated directly with the Sustainable Trails Coalition about the bill’s importance and relevance to Washington State.  Wilderness issues are complex and can be polarizing, so we have been thorough and conscientious in our consideration of the bill.

Not for the faint of heart, this route takes riders into the backcountry with a dogged climb offset by a winding singletrack descent though shadowy glades, open meadows of head-high wildflowers, and exposed ledges. Pair that with the breathtaking scenery of the Northern Cascades, Lake Kachess, Mt. Rainier, and Mt. Steward and you’ve got this month’s trail highlight: Kachess Ridge.

After nearly 2 years of leading our Education and Volunteer Programs with amazing passion and success, Mike Sidwell has moved on from Evergreen to pursue a new adventure in Bellingham, closer to family. Mike took our volunteer and education programs to a whole new level here at Evergreen, and we're so thankful for his hard work and commitment.  We already miss him!

Evergreen has dozens of projects happening around the state, which isn’t that hard to believe when you consider how driven our members are. One particularly exciting project is underway right now (and has been for some time) in the Evergreen Central area: Squilchuk State Park. Squilchuk offers an amazing opportunity for skillbuilding, closeby riding, and much more with its progressive design and stacked loop system.

On July 9, Evergreen East, Spokane Parks and Recreation, and Out There Monthly coordinated the second annual Spokatopia Outdoor Festival located at Camp Sekani city park in Spokane.  This event gave people the opportunity to try a hand at several outdoor activities—mountain biking, paddleboarding, kayaking, rock climbing, and canoeing.  With over 40 vendors Spokatopia also included local bike shops with bike demos from Specialized, Pivot, Yeti, Trek, Norco, Santa Cruz, and Ellsworth.

Five days of camping, riding, trail stewardship, and rider fellowship! Enjoy some of Washington’s best singletrack in a remote, alpine setting of NE Washington. In an annual tradition, riders from all across the region including Seattle, Spokane, Boise and B.C. converge to hang out, experience awesome trails and give back to area with a day devoted to trail work.   Special this year: Work and ride with Evergreen’s Trail Crew!  We should have a team of about 15 staff attending this year – so if you’d like to spend some time with the builders who are making things happen across the State – this year’s your chance to get to know even more!  We’re also getting support from the great WCBC crew out of Bellingham this year, so come join us for an amazing trail builder summit and ride experience!     Come when you can, leave when you must - you don't have to commit to the five days.  No reservations, no registration, but if you’re coming, please drop us a note with the size of your party.
