Epic Tested, Epic Approved
In recognition of their generous support of projects like these, 40 Team Epic members (the first to RSVP) joined Evergreen staff for a special shuttle run the night before the official trail opening—other TE riders chose to earn their turns with a post-work climb. However earned, that elevation was spent the same way—blasting down Eastbound and Down and NOTG—the two newest Tiger additions.
NOTG—short for Not Off The Grid—brings a new flavor to the slopes of Tiger with its rugged and natural feel. Don’t expect manicured trail or smoothed features on this ride; MTBers who let it go and keep eyes downtrail are rewarded with a ripping—if rowdy—descent down the mountain. Offering plenty of momentum to carry speed over the track’s many roots and dips, this trail promises to be a new favorite for Tiger Mountain regulars.
Eastbound and Down (EBAD) in three words: loose, steep and narrow. Be ready to commit to its steep switchbacks and tight sections—they’ll leave you questioning if you really need those 800mm handlebars.
Feedback was a collective thumbs up as Team Epic members left the trail jonesin’ for another trip up the mountain. Fortunately, the next stop was at Compass Outdoor Adventures in North Bend for post-ride pizza, beers and a chance to catch up with Evergreen Executive Director, Yvonne Kraus. EBAD and NOTG are now officially open for business!
Thanks to Compass Outdoor Adventures, all our incredible volunteer trailbuilders and Team Epic members for joining us for a great evening.
The Team Epic planning committee is busy scheduling upcoming events and activites, including a preview of Darrington’s new North Mountain trail system. Interested in joining Team Epic? Our Annual Membership drive (Sept. 4-18th) is the perfect time to sign up!
Thanks to all our members! It’s your ongoing support that powers Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance—and these projects—across Washington.
