Sole Survivor before the Atmospheric River

08 | Mar | '25

It has been over 3 years since the last time I was riding the Grand Ridge Trail system off of Interstate 90 in Issaquah. I parked at the East Sunset Way Trailhead and took the Preston Trail to the East Fork climb and began heading towards Duthie. The trail was in awesome shape, however, the atmospheric river is coming. The only issues were the two trees at the north end. One, north of the summit of the Grand Ridge, and one on the Duthie side of the bridges half way up before Duthie.  Once I got to Duthie, I rode Movin' On, Step It Up, and then Ryan's Eternal Flow.  Then I went back to I-90 in a different route as best I could. The GPS track and pictures are at this link here.

Sing this part of the report to “Sole Survivor” by ASIA......

When I led four guys through flow
Guy behind,  cased  (too slow).
He’s not lucky, his bike in the way,
I looked back, the rest out of play!

I was the sole survivor
Sole survivor
Sole survivor
Solitary rider

When I saw it, I was amazed
Friday fail, right in my gaze
I saw their horror, I saw their grins
All in the dust cloud, some loss, some wins

I was the sole survivor
Sole survivor, Sole survivor
Sole survivor
Solitary rider

And from the pile up,  they all arise
Assessed the damage, back on their rides
Seen the fail, they will retell
To all their friends, just how they fell

I was the sole survivor
Sole survivor
Sole survivor
Sole survivor
Sole survivor
Sole survivor
Sole survivor
Sole survivor
Sole survivor
Sole survivor
Sole survivor
Sole survivor

This is my 16th MTB music parody report if you're counting. ;-)
