Today, my goal was to get out to my happy place in Darrington and descend Out of the Blue and Jackpot and then get back to the real world and errands. I parked at the bottom of Skyline, climbed to the tower, and all the peaks and ridges were in the clouds. The views to east were all clouded so I couldn’t even see the fire smoke to the East. I descended down Out of the Blue and it really tired my arms and brake fingers. :-) There was a leg bone of a deer or other animal in the trail after the midpoint so some predator was really hungry a couple days ago! The clearing and flow halfway down needs a good brushing. The trail is in good shape and after I finished, I climbed back up to the upper shuttle lot to do Jackpot. Jackpot was clear but also was a bit tiring. I finished with Lower Skyline and it could use a brushing just above the lower bridge and berms in the clearcut. Trailforks said I made my best Jackpot run which made my day! :-) But as I got to my truck, I noticed my front, right, tire was flat!!! I then noticed a bolt in the tread. Did I run over it or was it put in there? I’ll never know. I got the spare and equipment out and changed it and then went to the Red Top Tavern for my Chilli dog and beer to refuel. The Jackpot personal best made me forget all about the flat tire until I went to repair it. The Trailforks Ride Log and pictures are here.
