Ideal Before the First Fall Atmospheric River
Our first, Fall, atmospheric river wave came through overnight but only showered on Chelan and made the downhill trail ideal for your tires. I started climbing from the trailhead around 6:30 this morning. After traversing over to the Butte road, I saw a deer family just before the pavement ended. Higher up, the fog and clouds were coming through the Butte Road gap and over the Stayman Flats burn scar and then evaporated quickly after getting through. It was a fascinating sight to watch. I saw a couple hunters up near the summit so be aware of hunting season at this point in the season.
I put the pads on and began the descent down the trail. You couldn’t ask for better traction! Just be careful of the loose rock and choose the clearer lines during your whole descent. It was very enjoyable this morning! The Trailforks ride log and pictures are here.
