Crank Sisters "Return of the Salmon" Co-ed Ride (Int./Adv. Riders)
RETURN OF THE SALMON RIDE with Post Ride BBQ Party.
The Pink Salmon aka Humpback Salmon or Humpies run every 2 years here at the STA (Secret Trail Alliance) and we thought that was a great excuse to host an Evergreen ride at the STA!
The ride is CO-ED. We'll have a minimum of two ride leaders, a strong intermediate/advanced moderate pace group and faster paced advanced group going out on this ride. These trails are not well suited for beginner/intermediates, but strong intermediate to advanced riders will have a blast! We will take a break at the river to see how many salmon we can see. Some years standing on the overlook we have seen a hundred or more fish! The pink salmon run every 2 years and they are just starting to come up our section of the river, so hopefully they will be in full run on 9/29.
This ride is on PRIVATE trails, which means you have exclusive access to some pretty cool terrain and exceptional river views. Expect some hill climbing (but you get the descent too), as well as some roots and strong intermediate/advanced technical trails. The hills are fairly short, but some are a bit of a grunt. You will ride alongside creeks, the River, through two old growth stumps and a brand-new section of trail that traverses the slope along the river past massive older growth trees and over a new bridge.
THIS RIDE IS FOR STRONG INTERMEDIATE OR ADVANCED RIDERS. You will want to have pretty good endurance for the rolling and sometimes twisting technical terrain. If you are confident on all trails at Paradise or Tapeworm, you're fine for these trails.
RIDE TIME: Meet and sign in at 10:00am. Remember it is better to be early than late. Ride at 10:15am expect to ride 2.5 to 3 hours, and about 10 to 12 miles.
BBQ/Party; around 1:30pm.
POST-RIDE BBQ: bring a beverage of choice, something for the grill and a snack/side to share. We'll fire up the grill and enjoy post-ride party in front of the fire if you want! We will be sharing our famous sweet and sour baked beans and Asian style coleslaw.
