Building on the last work party and several mini-missions, we're heading back up to buff out the next section of trail. What we've worked on so far is running better than it has in years and open sightlines have dialed the fun meter up to 11! We're aiming to have it tuned up for top-to-bottom laps by the fall and volunteers are how we're getting it done!
Safety is looking a lot better now too. With the trail being multi-use for motos, horses, bikes, and hikers we can all see each other coming sooner and have a better shared experience when we meet on the trail. Russell Ridge is well loved by everyone and it needs maintenance that makes it good for everyone. Access challenges since the Wildcat Rd washout have made it a lot tougher to keep the trail up to spec. We're leading the charge to get the trail back in tip-top shape and keep it that way, hopefully in increasing collabortion with other trail user groups, by doing proper maintenace that meets the needs of all trail users.
This time we'll focus on minor brushing, lots of raking to get debris off the trail, and looking for any spots that we need to focus on next. We have a few hand saws and loppers but bring your own if you have a favorite set. We'll provide rakes and dirt tools. Bring your bike. We'll get a rip in afterwards and finish up with some trailside tacos at the bottom!
