Osborne Mtn trail work party and ride weekend

Not too many people know about the Osborne Mtn trail located near Ashford south of Mt Rainier.  It has amazing Rainier views, 3 lakes, big old growth trees and a really fun 4+ mile descent. A truly amazing back country trail located less than 2 hours from Seattle.  Check it out on Trailforks (https://www.trailforks.com/trails/osborne-mountain-trail/).  Oh ya, it also has a very brushy last 3/4 mile. We are going to spend a couple hours Saturday, July 15, brushing the last 3/4 mile of trail and might go up into the trail network to do some more brushing.  Then we’ll get a ride in afterwards.  

Specifics:

Directions - Work site trailhead is located at the Big Creek Campground. The Campground is located on Skate Creek RD  2 miles south of H 706. The turnoff is located 2 miles east of Ashford. It goes H 706 (Ashford) - Kernahan RD - Skate Creek (Kernahan turns into Skate Creek)

1 Trail work - We will be brushing the lower 3/4 mile of trail at Big Creek campground. It is very overgrown but will be easy work with hedgers, weed whackers and a blower. IF we have enough folks, some will drive up to one of the higher up trails to do some brushing. Ler me know if anyone is planning on bringing a power tool (hedger, whacker or blower). Evergreen will have tools but LMK if you have a hedger or weed whacker. Wear proper outdoor work clothes and make sure you have water and lunch/snacks

2 After work we'll get a shuttle ride in. Route depends on how much time we have. The ride will include the famous Osborne Mtn 4 mile descent.

3 After riding Evergreen will have  food and beverages for a barbeque or folks can go into town to eat at the Base Camp restaurant. 

4 Camping - The local forest service office has reserved 2 camp sites at the Big Creek Campground so folks can spend Friday and Saturday night camping at a great little campground next to where we will be working. 

5 Rides - Saturdy afternoon we will ride some version of Osborne Mtn. We can also ride Friday or Sunday (Osborne or Silver creek).
