The fire forced the closure of approximately 238 acres at Camp Sekani, the eastern portion of the Beacon Hill trail system managed by the City of Spokane in partnership with Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance. Damage throughout the park is widespread, and a full assessment is underway now that it is safe for crews to access the area. There is currently no timeline for reopening the trails.

While the trail closures are significant, the impact reaches far beyond recreation. More than 12,000 people were evacuated, over a dozen homes were destroyed, and one community member tragically lost their life. Our hearts remain with the families and neighbors affected, and we're deeply grateful to the firefighters, first responders, and everyone who stepped up to support the community. Following the cancellation of Spokatopia, a fundraiser organized by Solnix raised more than $3,000 to help impacted families.

The fire is now 100% contained, and DNR and Spokane County Fire District 9 continue damage assessments and hazard mitigation. Once the area is deemed safe, the City of Spokane will announce a timeline for reopening Camp Sekani. The Evergreen East Chapter will be working alongside Spokane City Parks & Recreation to help restore the trail system.

In the meantime, Camp Sekani remains closed. Please respect all closure signs and stay out of the burn area, as unauthorized access could delay recovery efforts. The west side of Beacon Hill remains open, including Ezzy, Minnehaha, and Shields, and riders can access those trails by using the expanded dirt parking lot on the east side of Minnehaha Park.

The Spokane riding community has always shown incredible resilience, and we're confident we'll come together once again to restore this special place for future generations of riders.
