Two Upcoming Meetings WA MTBers Should Attend: Teanaway and Snoqualmie
Just because it's cold and dark that doesn’t mean we aren’t thinking about trails! In the next two weeks there will be two important meetings regarding recreational use and your input (and presence) is important to ensure that mountain bikers needs are heard and addressed.
Teanaway
On December 4th the Teanaway Citizen Advisory Committee and the Department of Natural Resources invite your input on the management plan they are developing for the 50,000 acres of newly acquired land up the Teanaway Valley. So far the Committee has heard from a narrow group of interests but they need to hear more from the mountain biking community.
This is an important opportunity to let the committee know how important the Teanaway is to you as a rider by letting them know the types of trails you and your family want to ride, the importance to you of trail access on the "dry side" within 1.5 hours of Seattle, and whether you think there should be restrictions on motorized uses of trails.

Snoqualmie
Meanwhile, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has just released the draft Snoqualmie Corridor Recreation Plan (which you can see here) for public review and comment. There will be a public meeting on December 10th in the City of Snoqualmie Administration Building, Council Chambers Room, 38624 SE River Street. Evergreen had representatives on the Advisory Committee and this plan will have a great impact on mountain biking in the I-90 corridor since the plan will be the blueprint for recreation DNR's land for the next 10 to 15 years.
This is an excellent opportunity to to show up, learn about the plan, and offer your comments. However, if you can’t attend the meeting you can provide comment by clicking here and referencing File No. 14-111901.
Both open houses represent an important opportunity for mountain bikers to show up, be heard, and actively participate in gaining more access for the trails we ride and love. Please plan on attending these meetings if you can, or submit your comment electronically.
