Rat Pac is THE original mountain bike trail in Kittitas County. It was built by Mike Kidder (and friends) who was a Cle Elum local and bike shop owner, predating our Evergreen Kittitas Chapter.
The Evergreen Kittitas Chapter formed in 2013, and the local riders & chapter members worked with local landowners to get this trail legalized. When the Towns to Teanaway trail system was being developed, Rat Pac was officially incorporated into the system, and Evergreen continues to maintain it.
The original trail had a lot of old wood features that were falling into disrepair and many were removed as part of the landowner agreements. Fortunately, some of the iconic wood features (the rock roll and the descending ladder bridge, for example) have been retained and upgraded to keep some of the old school character of the trail. A lot of the original trail signs have been retained as well. This trail can be accessed from the Coal Miner's Trail in Roslyn - take green/blue uphill trail "Ewok" and take "Paul's Trail" over to the top of Upper Rat Pac; or take the road climb for a very punchy direct route up.
