Trail Tuesday Highlight: Swan Creek in Tacoma
This Trail Tuesday we are featuring Swan Creek, Tacoma's local favorite!
With regular trail maintenance here at Swan Creek we keep these ~3 miles of trails in great shape all winter long. It's easy to access for post-workday riders and younger riders, and it has space for group rides and skill progression with friends.
Did you know? In 2021 and 2022, Metro Parks Tacoma completed major renovations to the park including new restroom facilities and picnic shelters.
“Hustle and Flow” is a beginner-friendly 1.75 mi cross country that loops around the ~50 acre Douglas Fir Forest. Similar to Bootcamp at Duthie, it is smooth and flowy with lots of rollers and banked turns.
“Feedback” is a short, beginner-friendly trail for hot laps and practicing small airs.
“Light Rail” and “Braking Bad” extend the cross country loop to ~2.5 mi of progression opportunity, with steeper climbs, tighter turns, and more advanced features.
Skill building for all levels:
- Drop zone
- Pump track
- Skinny practice zone
- 4 jump lines descending into the clearing on the north side of the forest:
- Jumpin Zac Flash (beginner)
- Joyride (beginner/intermediate)
- Frigid Air (intermediate/advanced)
- TNT (experts only - all gap jumps with steep lips)
