Looking for a fun outdoor activity for the kiddos next weekend? How about an adventurous way to introduce your kids to mountain biking, or connect them to new friends in the MTB community? 

You will not want to miss this year’s Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day on Saturday, October 5th! Created by the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) in 2004 and recognized by the U.S. Congress, this annual event aims to introduce kids to the exciting world of mountain biking.

Whether your little one is a seasoned shredder or hopping on a mountain bike for the first time, Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day offers a welcoming and safe environment to hit the trails and make memories (and new friends!). 

These events are free to the public, but donations are encouraged! Donate to Evergreen today.

Here is your guide to where and how you can take part in the festivities.

 

Where to Ride

Evergreen coaches and volunteers will be leading group rides and activities at several locations across the state. Join us at your local trail system! 

  • Duthie Hill Park – Issaquah
    If you’re in the greater Seattle area, join us at Duthie Hill with a variety of trails from beginner to expert. Activities include:
    • Bigfoot BMX hosted Dual Slalom racing
    • Sweetlines Racing hosted timed pump track laps
    • Student League hosted survivor island footdown competition
    • Compass Outdoors hosted scavenger hunt
    • Free bike rentals subject to availability
    • Free kids classes, every hour on the hour

  • Ski Hill – Leavenworth
    If you’re in Central Washington, join us at Ski Hill in the heart of the Cascade Mountains for group rides, a strider slalom course, and other family-friendly activities with Evergreen Staff.

What to Expect

Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day is a public community event for families that includes riding, games, music, food, and more! 

Participation is free and the events are open to riders of all ages and skill levels. Donations are always welcome to help keep the event running and support Evergreen’s work in building and maintaining trails across the state.

  1. Save the Date: Saturday, October 5th.
  2. Invite Friends and Family: The more, the merrier! Bring your kids, friends, your kids' friends, and anyone who wants to get out on the trails for a fun day of mountain biking.
  3. What to Bring: Helmet, bike, snacks or cash to buy food/drinks.

Join us for a celebration of community, family, and getting the next generation on bikes. We hope to see you out there with us on Saturday, October 5th!
