Are you passionate about learning and teaching? Do you have the technical skills and love to share the thrills of mountain biking with others? Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance is seeking enthusiastic, positive, and above all, patient individuals for our Volunteer Instructor Team! Becoming an Evergreen Instructor is a great way to improve your technical skills and teaching skills, and connect with a great community of mountain bikers.

Please note:

  • This is a volunteer position.
  • We strongly encourage women and individuals who want to work with kids to apply. We are looking for applicants interested in teaching all ability levels.
  • We are starting an education program at Swan Creek in Tacoma! Please apply!
  • Applications are due by February 28th.

Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance is now accepting applications for our Instructor Program for the 2015 Education Program season. Evergreen’s Education Program is growing and this year we will be recruiting a crew of instructors to teach at Swan Creek in Tacoma in addition to classes in King County. The requirements and commitments are outlined below. If you are interested, please complete the Instructor Application and return it via email to . The deadline for completing the application is Saturday, Feb. 28th.

Our official teaching season runs April–October. The commitments stated below must be completed within that time frame. Evergreen trains instructors through our Certified Instructor Training Program in exchange for your volunteer commitment. Training will be held on Friday night, March 27th–Sunday, March 29th. You must be able to attend all 3 days of the training.

You must have a valid CPR/First Aid certificate. Evergreen will offer two sessions of CPR/First Aid training for those needing it. Sessions will be held sometime in May and June. Prior to that, applicants needing certification will be allowed to teach classes with Instructors who are already certified. You must attend one session or complete the training independently unless you already have a valid First Aid certificate for CPR and injury training.

Minimum Requirements for an Evergreen Instructor:

  • Complete the Evergreen Certified Instructor Training Program, March 27th–29th
  • Swan Creek applicants ONLY – Instructor Training will be completed April 17th–19th
  • Attend First Aid training if not certified – dates to be determined
  • Teach or assist in 10 classes April through October
  • Attend monthly team meetings
  • Undergo background check

Interview dates will be held in early-mid March. After completion of the process, we will evaluate the results and contact you with our decision. The Application Process is as follows:

  1. Fill-out & submit application - due by Saturday, February 28th (download the application)
  2. Attend a 2-hour discussion/interview/question & answer session - date to be determined
  3. Attend a specific Basic Skills 1 class for applicants at Duthie - date to be determined
