Over 400 Join the Predator Opening Celebration with Evergreen and DNR
When the sun shines (kind of) and a pig gets roasted, there’s one thing you can count on at Tiger Mountain: that mountain bikers will come. But we didn’t realize how many would come--over 400 people showed up to celebrate the opening of Predator, the latest result of the strong partnership between Evergreen and DNR.
Even though the start time for shuttles and food wasn’t until 10am, riders (who had come from as far as Spokane) gathered at the exit of Predator just after 8am. With the help of volunteer drivers and some equipment from HuckWagons, the first shuttles kicked off the start of the celebration at 10.
After a post-ride lunch (which consisted of incredible pork and vegetables provided by Valley View Farms) the crowd gathered to hear about the projects from Brock Millern, DNR’s Statewide Recreation Manager, Sam Jarrett, DNR’s Regional Recreation Manager, and lead Predator trailbuilder Bryan Connolly from Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance. Also recognized were super-volunteers Jay Gore and Nick Newhall for their incredible efforts in getting the trail completed.
But just as exciting as the existing trail was the news that even more building and riding opportunities are on the horizon—from the DNR-constructed climbing trail to the new Raging River addition across from the existing tiger trails—there’s a lot to look forward to close to Seattle and across the state.
Special thanks go out to all the shops, clubs, and manufacturers who came out to join us, with a special thanks for Huckwagons for the use of their trailer, to DNR for continuing to partner with Evergreen on epic trails, and of course to Valley View Farm for the stellar food.
