DocktonRidersTrail300pxIf you’re a Puget Sound rider searching for fun new tracks, look no further. How about some flowy, wooded trails nestled right next to a picturesque shoreline—all with the bonus of a pre-pedal ferry ride. If that makes you reach for your helmet, check out this issue’s Trail Highlight: the Dockton Forest Mountain Bike Trails.

Opening just last week, these trails live on the southeast corner of Vashon Island (about 12 miles from the ferry dock). Consisting of a stacked loop system, the network also connects to Dockton Park, as well as to the beach and other viewpoints via the Huckleberry line.

DocktonTrailKairn300pxThe beginner (green) loop (consisting of Gravel Grinder, Erratic, and UFO) offers a fun and easy ride for new riders or those looking for a calmer experience. Intermediate riders looking for some fun can take advantage of the berms and jumps on the blue loop, made up of Feeder Line, Chairlift, Bumpy Monkey, Flying Monkey, Dr. Jekyll, and Mr. Hyde. Features are forgiving and allow riders to push themselves as much (or as little) as they like.

The Dockton Forest Trails are perfect for spring conditions since the trails roll better with a little moisture. Be sure to stop by all the in-town businesses on Vashon, and remember to check the ferry times!

Now call up your buddies, jump on the ferry, and spend your day riding on Island Time!

March/April Trail highlight is the Dockton Forest MTB Trail! Check out some island riding right next to Seattle.
