All Events Cancelled Through April 26th Due To COVID-19 Spread

Evergreen’s greatest joy is in our shared time with fellow riders on the trail, at events, and in working to protect, maintain, and celebrate the outdoors together.

We thrive through community gatherings, joint learning, and promoting healthy outdoor lifestyles. We must therefore take every action possible to avoid compromising, or place at risk, the health of anyone attending Evergreen events, work parties, classes, and other celebrations that bring us together.

As the novel Coronavirus and COVID-19 disease continues to spread at a rapid pace, protecting your health is our top priority.

We have suspended all community events, education classes, volunteer work parties, and in-person meetings through April 26th, 2020. This applies statewide, across our 8 chapters.

Events after April 26th are continuing until further notice. We are closely tracking updates from public health agencies and will reassess May and June events and classes in the coming weeks.

Please visit EvergreenMTB.org and follow our social media accounts (Instagram & Facebook) for program, volunteer and event updates. We will also update our calendar with live updates and ask that you please refrain from adding any new events or work parties to the public calendar until we are all safe to host them again.

Based on current guidance from King County, State, and Federal health officials, below is a summary of Evergreen’s event impacts and what this may mean to you. While it is a difficult step to take such drastic measures statewide, our hard-working Board and staff believe it’s the only choice we have to keep you, our staff, and our volunteers healthy and safe.

• If you have any questions about general operations or education classes, contact Tara Moser

• If you have questions about volunteer events and work parties, contact Bobby Stewart

• If you have questions about all other events, fundraising or the mountain bike festival, contact Patrick Walker

Community Meetings and Events:

In-person indoor and outdoor meetings and events of any size are suspended statewide through April 26th, 2020. This includes Chapter and Board meetings. Staff will be hard at work to reschedule meetings and events and moving to online platforms whenever possible.

Education Classes, Dirt Camps and Instructor Trainings:

We are cancelling all classes and trainings across all chapters through April 26th, 2020. If you are currently registered for a class prior to April 26th, we will issue a refund. Dirt Camps are scheduled to continue at this time. We will re-evaluate feasibility of summer camps next month. Instructor trainings are postponed until May. Some may take place online.

Please refrain from contacting us on the details of these classes, camps and trainings for now. If you are registered, rest assured that we will take care of you. We’re navigating all changes and operations requirements and will contact you as soon as possible to help you with your reschedule or refund questions.

Group Rides:

To keep you and our ride leaders safe, all group rides are cancelled and will be removed from the Evergreen calendar through April 26th. You are encouraged to ride with your friends as much as you can to stay healthy and find stress relief in the outdoors, but there will be no formal group rides hosted by Evergreen ride leaders.

Volunteer Work Parties:

We sadly must also suspend all volunteer work parties through April 26th, on the basis that we cannot meet the mandatory King County policies. We believe it’s best to be consistent and apply the King County requirements to Evergreen statewide. We ride and maintain trails in outdoor places where screenings and sanitary conditions are not available or within our control, so we must take precautions and limit exposure down to our smallest events.

Staff and Office:

We are now requiring staff to work from home as much as possible. Our office space will be lonely, which means office visits/package pick-ups, and in-person office meetings are also postponed through April 26th. If you need to stop by the office to pick up supplies or packages, please contact Tara Moser to arrange a time.

General Coronavirus and COVID-19 Resources:

You have most likely received best practices information from multiple sources. The best thing you can do now is stay informed and check your national and local health department resources frequently:

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Washington State Department of Health

Learn more about the virus and how to prevent its spread

Keep updated on the latest King County developments

In a more positive light, all our trail construction and maintenance work will continue and our trail crews are hard at work crafting and shaping your riding enjoyment for the rest of the year and beyond.

Personally, working from home is already underscoring how much I rely on all of your company, your great enthusiasm for mountain biking, and your unwavering support as my daily motivator. I miss it already!

Thank you for your understanding and dedication to our crew.

Stay healthy. Keep safe and see you on the trail,

-Yvonne Kraus, Executive Director
