Evergreen Wins National Trail Advocacy Award at the 2015 International Trail Symposium
Evergreen’s efforts to advocate for mountain biking throughout Washington often takes us outside of the state—to Washington DC, Idaho, or like last month—to Portland, OR for the 2015 International Trails Symposium.
This biennial event brings together trail advocacy organizations, land managers, and recreational coordinators from across the Unites States and Canada, as well as some of the most important experts in the trail building community—which is why we were honored to have Evergreen’s own Mike Westra present alongside Salem Area Trails Association and the National Park Service at the conference.
Even more exciting (sorry Mike), was Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance winning a 2015 National Trail Advocacy Award! An award, which is “given in recognition of successful efforts to influence public policy relating to trail planning, trail protection, trail development, or maintenance.” The Trail Advocacy Award is recognition not just of the hard work and successes of Evergreen, but also speaks to the commitment of our members and volunteers who make our work possible.
We are honored and humbled to receive such a prestigious award, and would like to thank our members and volunteers. We could not have done this without your continued support and tireless efforts, and we look forward to continuing our work through 2015 and beyond.
