Last weekend, Evergreen MTB and Outdoors For All partnered up to host an intermediate-level guided ride and class for adaptive athletes who've taken an aMTB course with Evergreen before and are ready to level up their skills at Stevens Pass Bike Park.
Two adaptive students from the greater Seattle area joined Outdoors For All and Evergreen MTB staff and instructors for a full day of learning and riding. Erin Martin, adaptive rider and Evergreen instructor, led the class.
This is a big step in expanding our aMTB program. Over the last 4 years, Evergreen and Outdoors For All have hosted several "Intro to aMTB" clinics and this was our first opportunity to pilot a more advanced class, on more challenging terrain in a bike park setting. This day also highlighted the need for more opportunities for aMTB riders to share time on the trails together, not necessarily in an instructional setting. It inspired a plan for more guided rides and more advanced class opportunities in the future.
Evergreen is so grateful for our continued partnership with Outdoors for All, together we've built a program that continues to grow and gain momentum.
We also want to give a HUGE shoutout to Steven's Pass, who generously supported the program with tickets as well as staff who were well trained and incredibly supportive of all the extra logistics that goes into getting adaptive bikes onto the lift. We can't wait for the next event!
