Mountain Bike Bum
26 | Feb | '25
Due to the atmospheric river rains and temperatures, I decided to try the lower sections of the Out of the Blue trail since it faces South on North Mountain (better sun exposure). I parked at the lower gate and started climbing. The snow was gone until it started at 3000 feet so the climb to the lower part of Out of the Blue was pretty easy until the road ended and then I needed to hike a bike to the mid-trail junction. The trail was fairly clear of snow but had plenty of windfall that I needed to clear along with one or two trees that chainsaws will need to remove. You can see the tree locations in the Trailforks ride log pictures here. I'm guessing the rest of the upper half of the mountain (>3000') is still hike a bike. Lower Skyline and Lower Showcase might be ridable but unknown.
Sing the parody part of this report to “Comfortably Numb” by Pink Floyd ……
HELLO....
Are there bears or cougars out there?
Run away if you can hear me
Can I ride in your home?
Come out now
Get away from your town
Fresh air will ease your strain
Get you on your wheels again
Pack up
You’ll need some new ride reports, first
Just the Trailforks facts
They will tell you where it’s worse
There is no rain, you are foreseeing
Approaching clouds out on the horizon
You all convoy to trailheads in waves
Your bike flies and I can see what you crave
When I was a child I had bike fever
My straddle bike tubes were like two balloons
I've still got that passion now since then
I can't stop riding, you would not understand
This is just how I am
I have become a mountain bike bum
I have become a mountain bike bum
O.K.
Just a little pinch flat
There'll be no joy, awh sh%^^
You will be a little pissed
Can you patch up?
Can you patch up?
I believe that your bike’s working, good
It'll keep you rolling through the flow
Come on, it's time to go
There is no rain, you are foreseeing
Approaching clouds out on the horizon
You all convoy to trailheads in waves
Your bike flies and I can see what you crave
When I was more wild
I caught a fleeing bear
Out of the corner of my eye
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my bear spray on it now
Wildlife is gone
My ride goes on
I have become a mountain bike bum.
