I needed to get out of the Puget Sound fogginess this week so I headed into the hills up to Darrington and climbed to do Jackpot and Lower Skyline. The access road to Jackpot's midpoint has 1-4" of snow in spots but it is still doable. There is no snow on the Lower half of Jackpot and none on Lower Skyline. There is one Rotten log across Jackpot about 100 yards above the merge to Skyline. It will take a chainsaw or a three person move. The trails were very well drained and almost hero if there was no windfall, leaves, or needles. After the upper mountain run, I went and did the skills park to burn a little extra time. Logger, Faller, and Hooktender were in great shape and just need a raking at the end of Winter winds. It was a wonderful morning. Trailforks ride log is here.
