Much Clearer Now, Major Gravel Mitigated
Here in Chelan we had a full night of rain last night so the Butte Downhill would be hardened and hero. That was the main reason to go riding today but I also wanted to rake out the gravel from two key spots where there aren’t clear lines. Those spots are just above the switchbacks above Elephant Head. I strapped the rake to the bike and summited, and then went down to the fallen tree jump at the top to add more dirt. After that, I descended to the gravel spots and mitigated those, clearing a better line through. I think you’ll like them. I know I won’t be slowing down there anymore. I descended the rest of the way down to the trailhead in a pretty wicked headwind.
I got back to the truck at the bottom but what I didn’t know was that my windbreaker blew off my backpack. :-( I started back tracking from the bottom and found my windbreaker 2/3rds up the downhill! At least I found it, and the Levo made it a little more palatable. It was a productive and enjoyable day today! The Trailforks ride log and pictures are here.
