Cooper River & Pete Lake
Biked Cooper River and Pete Lake to the wilderness boundary & hiked to Pete Lake. The Cooper River trail had some crunchy snow in places but it's not bad. When you reach the Owhi Campground, the trail does not have a Cooper River trail sign, it just says "Owhi Campground, #1327." It's the right trail though, but not traveled very much, and has a bunch of trees across the trail. A few you can clear on the bike, but many are too big & there are also many branches across the trail. We cleared some of the brush & branches, but this trail needs a lot of work. (On the way back, we took the road section back to the Cooper River trail.) There are more small creeks & puddles on this trail & the Pete Lake trail, but due to the temperature, some of it was crunchy ice & the mud was frozen, so we stayed nice & clean. Get out & do this trail soon before it gets too snowy/icy. The rest of the hike to Pete Lake is pretty easy & short. Worth the views definitely. There were a fair amount of hikers on Friday, and one person on a horse.
