Whiskey Dick...
Posting this because no one has left a report for this trail. And because it's called Whiskey Dick.
It's a huge network of trails so there are more loop options than indicated here. There are almost no signs or indications of where you are once you are out there. You can do a ~15 mile loop, ~20 (the "short loop"), or the ~40 mile long loop. These all start at the trailhead just north of Vantage where the navigation tells you to go. It's not much of a trailhead, just a gate halfway down a road to the river. Looks like you can also access the trail system about 5 miles West on Vantage HWY. There's a Discover Pass parking lot with some maps and stuff. I didn't do any of this but according to the maps everything connects and you could probably make some 60-100 mile loops out of it.
Most all of the trails are just doubletrack roads that seem to be mostly used by motos. Many sections are covered in a weird amount of loose rocks. There are multiple long climbs that get quite steep and loose. The descents are similarly loose and don't flow very well because they're just old roads. Overall the actual riding is fairly hard and not that fun.
The scenery is great. A variety of great views and that kind of eerie desert vibe. There's an a abandoned ranch, endless sage hills, cow skulls, snakes, the whole deal. Starting out I saw some motos but then I rode all afternoon on a perfect spring Saturday and didn't see anyone else. Enjoy.
