Hansen Ridge to Harris Lake

My son and I rode this trail yesterday. Great weather and great trail conditions made for a long yet fun ride. We rode Upper Hansen Ridge and then all the way to Harris lake. On the way back we took the lower Hansen Ridge trail all the way down to the parking lot.
A few places where we did hike-a-bike-
- Upper Hansen Ridge has about a half-mile section that is quite steep with significant marbles (softball-sized rocks rounded off). Going up was difficult. I'm sure going down is even harder.
- The last half-mile in and out of Harris lake is technical switchbacks, very steep with lots of loose rocks. My son said, "It's like riding the entrance feature on Braveheart at Duthie but it's for a half mile."
- On the way back climbing up the big rocky section up toward 4200' (phase 2?) we were gassed and had to walk the last 3/4 mile.
- Part of the road climb eastbound has loose gravel and a 16%+ grade for half a mile.
Parts we really liked-
- Most of the upper Hansen Ridge climb was very nice, well maintained, and looked to be easier than the lower portion. With the exception of the steep marbles section this climb was better than the lower but we will probably reverse our course if we come out here again.
- The flow course in the middle was a pleasant surprise (although a few of the berms are washed out). Kudos to whoever built that.
- Great scenery! Around every corner was another great vista! ...which led to a lot of pictures.
Even on a cool day we went through a LOT of water. There were some great little streams to pump water on the western side downhill from the lake. This water tasted better and was colder than the lake water.
