Challenging climb fast fun down
Rode this ride, apparently after work group. I parked at the campground and climbed up on the fire roads. Shuttling would probably be the preferred way to do this ride. I think it was roughly 11 miles on road/fire road to single track. Fire road was not overly steep but still a workout. The single track from fire road is steep and challenging, but generally cleared well. After riding singletracks for awhile you come to the lakes. They are beautiful and the blueberries were ripe (an added treat for a tough ride). At the T I went left(or straight). I don't know if I was already exhausted--rode ape Canyon epic the day before--or what, but, I did a fair amount of hike a bike to the top from here. It was pretty heavily brushed over in sections, steep, and the Sandy steep climb was a challenging hike. If I did this over I would probably go right and do the road climb. It says it is another thousand feet. I climbed about another 700 going left too. The downhill made it all worth it. Super fast. Mostly smooth. Some sheer sections, but for the most part was just ripping. Made me want bigger brakes, tires, and suspension than my trek superfly has. Was still very awesome on my xc rig. My total ride was 4222ft climbing. 3 hrs 15 minutes moving time. I didn't take many breaks though.
