Dry, loose, but not bad for a good weekday workout
Went here yesterday for the first time just to check it out and mix up my riding. The trails were pretty dry and loose from all the horse traffic (dry from the drought we are in, of course). Horse poop was present, but not that much of an issue although maybe on weekends it is different. Overall, I was able to do the loop in the description in just over 1.5 hours so that was a good amount of mileage in such a short time (the description says 12 miles, but my GPS read 9.5 miles so a little discrepancy there but not a huge deal). The trails aren't really built for biking (as far as berms, features, etc. are concerned) and are pretty chewed up from the horses, but it was still a decent ride. I wouldn't say I will go back there again but it's always fun to check out new places. One thing I was disappointed in was the lack of views, although maybe I just didn't ride the right trails. I thought there would be views on Holder Knob but I must have missed them or maybe they are up on the higher trails. Carey Creek would have been a much more enjoyable trail if the creek wasn't dried up and some parts of it were almost like riding in sand. :)
