Lopez Hill
Info
Lopez Hill has approximately four miles of shared-use singletrack trails winding up and around the Hill. The South and West sides of the are forested in dry Douglas Fir, Pine, and Madrona forest; the North and East sides are wetter, with deep Cedar groves and Alder bottoms. There are numerous moss-covered rocky outcroppings and the terrain is fairly rugged. The trails are fairly rooty and rocky. Not super-technical but flowy and FUN!
The Lopez Hill trails are all volunteer-built and maintained. The Friends of Lopez Hill is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to preserving Lopez Hill for its natural and recreational values. Lopez Hill is a 400-acre parcel of public land that has had very little human impact, and as such is uniquely pristine. The Hill is a natural reserve as well as a place for recreation and contemplation. Please be respectful of natural communities and the quiet & solitude that the Hill offers its visitors. Be nice to the land.
Lopez Hill is owned by Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and managed under a 50-year lease by the San Juan County Land Bank.
