Trail Program Manager
Summary of Position
Join our Team! Evergreen is seeking a full-time Trail Program Manager to help oversee our ongoing trail projects across Washington.
Evergreen’s Trail Program Managers collaborate with staff, chapter representatives, existing and prospective project clients, and volunteers to successfully develop, implement, track, and deliver trail projects, grants, and trail maintenance agreements. With guidance from the Trail Program Director, this position is designed to guide and assist trail projects and contracts through their project lifecycle phases, including project scope and budget development, trail system design assistance, scope of work and contract negotiations, crew mobilization and scheduling, budget monitoring, invoicing, project performance reporting and tracking, and issue resolution. Evergreen’s Program Managers manage daily trail crew project interactions and oversee all match contributions, including working with Evergreen’s Volunteer Program Manager to engage the volunteer community and ensure project and grant match requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Trails Program Director and Executive Director in trail project planning and contract development with land managers, partners, and clients.
- Oversee, manage, and collaborate with Trail Project Managers and trail crew on project scheduling, mobilization, equipment allocations and rentals, and volunteer engagement tasks.
- Frequently communicate with Trails Director on project progress, issue resolution, budget concerns, match obligations, and staffing plans to ensure on-time project scope delivery and excellence in client service.
- Provide regular status reports (including maps and spreadsheets when required) to clients, Trails Director, Evergreen’s membership community, and/or other stakeholders.
- Attend on-site meetings with clients to review project progress, resolve issues, and ensure quality assurance.
- Prepare project invoices in collaboration with the Finance Director.
- Oversee trail crew time and expense reporting and manage and approve time and expense reports related to programs and projects.
- Work with Project Managers and/or Crew Chiefs to ensure billing and project progress reporting is on track.
- Work with trail crew to ensure a welcoming and inviting atmosphere, with the goal of increasing access to the outdoors for all people.
- Assist Crew leads and the Volunteer Program Manager in work party logistics, including equipment, tools, snacks, and sign-in sheets management.
- Recruit, hire, and train new trail builders and crew leads as needed.
- Assist Evergreen Admin staff with periodic all-staff events, volunteer community events, and meetings when needed, such as member meetings, Mountain Bike Festival, or chapter fundraising events.
- Represent Evergreen & the sport of mountain biking in a positive, professional manner at all times.
As a lean non-profit organization with a small team, additional duties may be assigned beyond what is listed above according to the organization's needs. Hours are flexible andwill require periodic evening and weekend work.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience in trail design, construction, and project management.
- Strong understanding of budget management and contract development.
- Experience working with volunteers and staff in outdoor or trail-based environments.
- Demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) principles.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- A valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and reliable personal transportation.
- Pass a nationwide background check with no criminal offenses

Employment Offer & Agreement
The Trail Program Manager is a full-time, non-exempt position with flexible work hours and the ability to work remotely. The salary range is $28.00 - $30.00 per hour, depending on experience. Benefits include paid time off, holiday pay, medical and communication stipends, technology reimbursements, and a 401(K) retirement plan available after three months.
Benefits include:
- Ten holidays (80 hours) paid holidays off per year.

Reports to: Trails Director, David Fleischhauer
Location: North Bend, WA. Remote work locations are assumed and permitted, with a recommended 1-day week office day, mandatory in-person planning meetings and retreats, and Board retreat attendance at various locations throughout the state.

Term: Full–Time.
Hours: Max 40 hours/week.
Compensation: The salary range is $28.00 - $30.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
