Wallula trails introduction
I’ve decided to go ahead and plan a group ride at Wallula for this Saturday Sept. 30, leaving at 10 AM (don’t be late). We’ll meet at the “History of Wallula” parking area. There are only spaces for about 10 vehicles at that parking area, so you should carpool if you can. Alternative parking (see map) can be found south along US 730 at Two Sisters and north along 730 at various pullouts, but you’ll have to ride along 730 (busy highway) to get to the meeting area. The drive takes about 35 minutes from both Walla Walla and Tri-Cities. This ride is an “introduction to the Wallula trail system” - a social ride, not a training ride or a race. We’ll be stopping frequently to talk about route options and the various trails. The riding at Wallula is most suited to folks whose mtb skills are at a level of solid intermediate or above. Any ride at Wallula involves a fair amount of climbing, some of it fairly steep for short distances. Accessing the trail system from the parking lot requires a 200 ft uphill push that gains about 70 ft. I’ll post on FB by 8 AM on Saturday morning if I decide to cancel the ride due to adverse weather.
