Protect Bikes in Seattle Green Spaces THIS Saturday, April 4, 9:30-12:30
The City of Seattle is currently developing its policy for Natural Areas and Greenbelts and without your input, we could see these areas permanently closed to bikes on unpaved trails.
We all know the benefits of mountain bike trails—they allow urban families and children a chance to connect to nature, create an opportunity for fun and healthy, low-impact recreation, displace undesired activity, and improve forest health through volunteer work—but policy makers may not know this. So we need to help them understand the benefits you personally experience.
As part of the ongoing planning process for Seattle Green Spaces there will be a mini-summit THIS Saturday—April 4th—in Seattle Center. This is an important time to have your voice heard and protect low-impact riding for the people of Seattle.
Remember to highlight the benefit to neighborhoods, the natural environment, and overall health that mountain biking trails provide. Speak to your personal experience and the benefits that you and your family get from being able to ride - and how you shouldn’t have to drive outside Seattle to get to a trail.
Thanks in advance for working to promote mountain biking in Seattle. While a vocal minority threatens access, we’re confident that with strong community and facts on the side of mountain biking, we can ensure that the city's residents will have the ability to ride closer to home now and in the future.
