Outdoor Research Tiger Mtn. Work Party Recap
It takes a village to maintain a well-loved mountain bike trail, and on Saturday, September 7th, Outdoor Research hosted a sizable work party to do just that.
Over 30 people showed up to donate their time and energy to help keep Side Hustle’s berms smooth and beautiful for everyone to enjoy.
Like many Saturday mornings, Tiger Mountain’s parking lot was a rendezvous point for a crew to assemble and wend their way up the hill. After gathering people and bikes into shuttle vehicles, work party attendees were deposited at the top of Side Hustle and rode down to meet Outdoor Research’s team at their trailside tent filled with coffee, donuts, and swag.
After fueling and outfitting (hats and Freewheel Mountain Bike Gloves for everyone!) Heather, Brandon, and Scott gave the group an overview of how to do the day’s work. Then, it was time to get down to business.
The crew split up into smaller groups and tackled the task of refreshing several berms. While some tenacious workers dug near the trail to fill bucket after bucket of dirt, others spent their effort packing and shaping the fresh dirt into the berms.
Once the work was complete, the only thing left was to ride out and enjoy the smooth, newly formed trail section.
A huge thank you to everyone who came out and to Outdoor Research for hosting and donating gear for all, along with an amazing raffle prize of a full Freewheel Mountain Bike Collection kit!
