October Trail Highlight: Freunsy?

If you’re in an Oktoberfest mood but won’t throw on your lederhosen until after some helmet time, check out one of the newer routes in Leavenworth that happens to be our October Trail highlight: the Freunsy ride!

You’ve probably heard of Freund Canyon and Rosy Boa…but Freunsy offers the best of both awesome trails.  Begin the ride with a grind uphill that takes an hour of gradual spinning with occasional views and very short steep bits.

Then get ready because you’ll be burning those earned turns down Freund’s flowy berms . Rebuilt just this past spring, Freund Canyon now sports fast a downhill with challenging cornering and jumps, but still remains rideable by beginners comfortable at lower speeds.

Once you’re about halfway down, move over to Rosy Boa and enjoy the technical nature of one of Leavenworth’s other popular trails. As you complete this second part of the ride, take in the great views of town as you move down trail.

Locals point out that a reasonably in-shape rider can do this lap from town and back in two hours, which means you can run multiple laps, or, run a one and still have time to grab your stein and join in Leavenworth’s Oktoberfest activities, which run weekends from 10/2-10/17.

If you’re interested in helping out at some Freund and Rosy work parties, keep an eye on the Evergreen Central Facebook page.

Evergreen's October 2015 Trail Highlight is Freusy (Freund Canyon/Rosy Boa).
