Because Mountain Bikers Need to Support the Greenway
As a mountain biker, you rely on protected access to public land for many of the trails you ride on. As a community, mountain bikers care about protecting our access, and today you have an opportunity to ensure that the trails you love in the Mountains to Sound Greenway are protected.
You can help today by signing a petition to support the Mountains to Sound Greenway National Heritage Area.
Evergreen and five other recreation groups are getting involved to formally designate the Mountains to Sound Greenway as a National Heritage Area. By signing the petition, you are ensuring the mountain bikers have a seat at the table and can improve opportunities for mountain biking from Seattle to Ellensburg.
Are we sure this won’t threaten MTB access? YES; in fact when you sign the petition, you show that mountain bikers are committed to being part of the process. If mountain bikers would like to have influence when it comes time to create the management plan for the NHA we need to actively support the effort -please sign the petition now!
National Heritage Areas are designated by Congress as areas of national significance in order to protect and promote their natural, historic, cultural, and recreational resources. This designation isn’t just branding for the Greenway; last year alone the National Heritage Areas distributed over $3 million in grants for recreation projects. (learn more about recreation and Heritage designation here).
Take a moment today and lend your support as a mountain biker and an advocate for outdoor recreation. Congress needs to hear from people like you who love the Mountains to Sound Greenway.
Thank you for your support!
P.S. So far, mountain bikers make up only 2% of the total petition signers. Help us increase our voice by signing the petition and sharing with a friend today.
