This Spring, the Central Chapter Education team in Wenatchee and Leavenworth collaborated with local schools to provide “Intro to Mountain Biking” Lessons with three elementary and middle schools for over 50 students.

The programs started with lessons on the school grounds to work on fundamentals such as balance over the bike, braking, and cornering. Many students had not spent much time on a bike before, let alone on a dirt trail, so the school grounds sessions were critical for success.

The programs culminated with a field trip to Squilchuck State Park where students were able to experience riding singletrack through the trees in the cooler mountain air! They had a blast getting the tires into the dirt.

Additionally, Icicle Ridge Middle School in Leavenworth held their annual end of year outing at Tall Timber camp north of Lake Wenatchee, where Evergreen coaches guided students through bike games and trail rides.

Our team of six coaches traveled throughout the region to provide these awesome experiences for youth who might not otherwise have the opportunity to get out on the trails.

We look forward to seeing the students out on the trails this summer and beyond! Stay tuned for programming during the 2025/2026 school year!
