Paul Martin
Born in Olympia. Grew up on two wheels without a helmet crashing on purpose because it was fun. Started working in bike shops around 1998 when I was 19 as an assembler and BMXer. Borrowed a mtb (from Bryan Connolly) in 2000? Started riding a Monty trials bike soon after (also Bryan's fault) to improve bike control. Spent a lot of time building and riding the steepest trails possible in my 20's. After 32 years in Washington and various odd jobs I moved to California. I spent 8 years in California working for a 40+ year old family bike shop eating dust and crashing in sandy corners. Finally understood why people ride road bikes in southern California more than mountain bikes. Missed the rain and the dirt. Here I am.
Extremely passionate about quality and safety in every job I've ever had. I really love complicated rock work that gets covered up by the magic we get to call hero dirt, brown velcro, mineral soil, etc... Recent volunteer days got me hooked on trail building again. I hope I can show the joy of building and riding bikes to as many people as possible here at Evergreen.
