Evergreen Women's DirtDiva Series - Session 2 - Week 3 Thursday, June 20th - 6:00 PM

This one is for you Ladies!

Tired of trying to keep up with your riding buddies? Don’t feel like getting off your bike for all those obstacles in the trail? In this 4-week series we will take time to focus on one or two skills for the day and spend lots of time on the trails mastering it. This is for the beginner woman rider who wants to get more comfortable with the mountain biking basics and build on their skills.

We will meet once a week for 4-weeks and ride for 2hrs. Come prepared to have fun! We guarantee you will be a new rider by the end of this series. This is for ladies ages 14 and up. We welcome individuals, families and groups.

Some of the skills we will be covering are basic body positioning, braking, climbing and descending, getting over obstacles, cornering, rolling down small ledges and more. Pace will determined by the group. No one will be left behind and you will get lots of individual instruction and feedback in a supportive women-only environment.

I-90 Dirt Series - Tokul West Thursday, June 20th - 6:00 PM

Come explore many awesome trails along the I-90 corridor in this series of fun rides. We won't leave anyone behind during our ~2 hours of moderately paced pedaling but the goal is to get some decent workout for everyone. Heavy rain cancels.

This ride will take us to Tokul West - we'll meet at the parking lot north of the round-about just outside of Fall City (see map).

Evergreen Basic Mountain Bike Skills Part I Thursday, June 20th - 6:00 PM

If you are new to the fun of mountain biking, this class is for you! You'll learn how to stay balanced and in control while you zip through the trails comfortably getting over roots and small logs. It's designed for adults of any age and kids 14 and above who have no previous training. We welcome families, individuals and groups.

Some of the skills we will be covering are bike/body position, shifting, braking, climbing, descending, and lifting our front wheel.

Plan on 3hrs where we will wrap things up by 9pm.

Class Rates: $50 for Evergreen members (non-members must purchase an Evergreen membership for an additional $30) An annual family membership is $50. The class sign-up pages will automatically determine the right membership for you.

This is a great weekly ride for building fitness utilizing the Puget Power Trail, Redmond Watershed and neighborhood single track trails.

Anticipate covering 20 miles with approximately 1600 feet of ascent averaging around 10mph.

Freeride Fridays - Jr's Friday, June 21st - 4:00 PM

Come join Sweetlines crew to session the more advanced trails of Duthie.

Time: 4pm-6pm
Dates: May 31, June 7, 14, 21
Location: Duthie (meeting in the Clearing)
Cost: $30 per day or $100 for all 4 sessions
Ages: 10 and older (co-ed)

Format: This is a freeride club focused on riding more advanced trails with very little coaching. Groups will split in two based on ability level. Intermediate freeriders will work on Voodoo Child, Gravy Train, Double Trouble, HLC. More advanced groups will ride Semper Dirticus, 12 Step, the Trick Step Up, etc.

Qualifications: must have been through a Sweetlines program, or have been in the advanced group at Dirt Camp and already riding Voodoo Child, Gravy Train and at least starting to learn Semper Dirticus.

Come enjoy the longest day of the year with a climb up Victoria Tract in Pilchuck Tree Farm, Stanwood. The breathtaking viewpoint at the top overlooks the LaConner and the islands. The trails are super fun and swoopy with a couple of technical runs. We expect to converge Seattlites and Bellinghamettes in this super fun summer ride. Customs are encouraged.     Tiger Mt Work Party- 1st shift Wednesday, June 26th - 10:00 AM

    Silent Swamp trail construction is back in full swing. Come be a part of history! We'll run this work party from 10am to 4:30pm. If you want to leave early, bring your bike -- we'll shuttle you up and you can ride out whenever you need to leave!

    This work party will be led by Evergreen staff.


    We will be meeting at a DIFFERENT gate for this Silent Swamp work party. I'll be at the gate in my red Toyota T100! The turn-out is 6/10's of a mile after the beginning of the passing lane as you are heading from I90 toward the Summit. It comes up quick. We'll meet at the gate and carpool up to the work site. We have to be on time and lock the gate behind us, so please show up early and be ready to go by the start time.

    Evergreen Introduction to Freeride Part 1 Thursday, June 27th - 6:00 PM

    Want to get those wheels off the ground? Don't want to have to get off and walk over every obstacle in the trail? Join this fun class to learn the fundamentals that will get you started with the freeriding basics. You'll learn to maintain good body position while conquering wheel lifts, obstacles, step-downs and drops. We are gearing this class toward the intermediate rider so you should have some experience on your bike and be comfortable with the basics. If you have questions please email the instructor. This class is for adults and kids 14 and above; we welcome families, individuals and groups.

    Victoria Tract - The Tract Strikes Back Thursday, June 27th - 6:00 PM
    Ride leader: Ross Location: Victoria Tract
    ~2.5hr/15 miles, lots of climbing on some favorites and some lesser used trails at the Victoria Tract of Pilchuck Tree Farm. Several single track hill climbs.

    Steady pace (i.e. not a hammer festival, race, pace line, peloton, etc...), w/ minimal stops, no drops. I wait at all intersections, no one will be left behind - this place is vast!

    This may be a partial night ride: bring a light with at least a 1 hour burn time.

    Ride leaves promptly at posted time, you might want to set out early, traffic through Everett/Marysville can be heavy.

    Not meeting at Glass School lot (don't use the Evergreen site directions). Directions will be emailed to riders.

    You must have a waiver on file with the Pilchuck Tree Farm to ride Victoria Tract.

    24 Hours of Mass Destruction Friday, June 28th - 11:00 AM

    Join The Broken Spoke in a bike race to test your limits on June 28-30, 2013 on the Kitsap Peninsula. The trails are a healthy mix of sand, mud, roots, and dirt. Tight single track and gnarly trees are included in your entry fees.

    24 Hours of Mass Destruction uses the Stottlemeyer trail system in Port Gamble, Washington. With more than twenty-five miles of trails, you and racers from all around the Pacific Northwest will enjoy playing in the woods. Stottlemeyer definitely challenges riders of every ability.

    This 24 hour mountain bike race starts at 11 am on Saturday the 29th. Then 24 long hours later, the race ends at 11 am on Sunday the 30th. Ride to your heart’s content or your legs’ demise.

    Cascadia Dirt Cup Enduro Series Race #1 - Yacolt Burn Enduro @ Battleground Saturday, June 29th - 10:00 AM

    The Cascadia Dirt Cup five race Enduro Series has officially been announced! And Evergreen is thrilled to be involved! The first race will take place June 29th in the Yacolt Burn State Forest.

    The races at each venue are supported by amazing local mountain bike trails-oriented nonprofits, and the proceeds from each race will go back to their trails and advocacy efforts.

    Each race will consist of both untimed uphill trail stages and timed downhill stages. Stage lengths and technical difficulty levels vary from race to race. Most racers choose to ride cross country, all mountain or endure bikes due to the amount of climbing.

    More Info: What should I bring? Please have your bikes in good working order. Helmets are mandatory. Knee and elbow pads are optional. Bring a snack and water and dress appropriately for the day. The use of flat pedals is highly encouraged for these classes.

    You will be contacted a few days prior to class with more details on what to bring, etc. but if you have questions, comments, concerns - please don't hesitate to contact us.

    Class will be canceled if there is heavy rain, high wind, or temperatures below freezing. Light rain is fine. In the event of inclement weather, please check your email the day of the class to see if the class has been canceled.

    Tired of trying to keep up with your riding buddies? Don’t feel like getting off your bike for all those obstacles in the trail? In this 4-week series we will take time to focus on one or two skills for the day and spend lots of time on the trails mastering it. This is for the beginner woman rider who wants to get more comfortable with the mountain biking basics and build on their skills.

    We will meet once a week for 4-weeks and ride for 2hrs. Come prepared to have fun! We guarantee you will be a new rider by the end of this series. This is for ladies ages 14 and up. We welcome individuals, families and groups.

A member of Team Dirt Corps, Youth Program Manager for Cascade Bicycle Club and Trips for Kids, and a local MTB icon, Kat is known for her fun-filled kids' and womens' mountain bike programs. Kat has coached kids programs for the last 8 years, and women programs for 5 years. She has seen mountain biking rise to where it is today, from the days of full rigid bikes to the present, and continues to inspire, bringing new riders into the sport. Kat is a Certified IMIC Level 2 coach and also trained by Blair Lombardi, and Endless Biking, the same outfit that certifies the Dirt Series coaches. She freelances for Dirt Series, See Jane Jump, the Santa Cruz MTB Fest, Dixie Trix, and Queen of the Mountain. Kat likes to help others gain confidence, technique, and style in their riding.

    Simon Lawton is the owner of Fluidride, and the creator of the Fluidride Teaching Method. Simon has been racing mountain bikes for over 20 years, with 16 years experience in the Pro Downhill ranks. During his career he’s had over 50 Pro podium finishes at regional events, a Silver and Bronze medal from the UCI Master’s Downhill World Championships, and a 13th place finish in Chile’s Valparaiso Cerro Abajo Urban Downhill (VCA). Simon has helped thousands of riders reach their riding, racing, and life goals.

    Riders will join team members from Sturdy Bitch Racing for a mellow women’s ride around Philip Arnold State Park / The Tapeworm. Meet in the parking lot by the bathrooms at the park.

    Bring water, a bike in good working order, and an adventurous attitude.

    We’ll do a quick talk about some basics of riding and then we’ll go ride the Tapeworm and possibly some of the trails. Terrain will be dirt trails with some smaller obstacles and short hills. This will be a little more compressed as far as distance and obstacles – everything is closer together and tighter. Plan on an hour and a half or so of ride time.

    Some of the skills we will be covering are basic body positioning, braking, climbing and descending, getting over obstacles, cornering, rolling down small ledges and more. Pace will determined by the group. No one will be left behind and you will get lots of individual instruction and feedback in a supportive women-only environment.

    Cascadia Dirt Cup Enduro Series Race #2 - Dry Hill Enduro @ Port Angeles Saturday, July 20th - 10:00 AM

    The Cascadia Dirt Cup five race Enduro Series has officially been announced! And Evergreen is thrilled to be involved! The second race will take place July 20th near Port Angeles.

    The races at each venue are supported by amazing local mountain bike trails-oriented nonprofits, and the proceeds from each race will go back to their trails and advocacy efforts.

    Each race will consist of both untimed uphill trail stages and timed downhill stages. Stage lengths and technical difficulty levels vary from race to race. Most racers choose to ride cross country, all mountain or endure bikes due to the amount of climbing.

    Evergreen 4-week Intro to Downhill Series w/ Stevens Pass Wednesday, July 24th - 6:00 PM

    Ever wonder what the DH buzz is about? Have you been wanting to check out the Whistler scene but are intimidated? Sign-up for our new Intro to Downhill series and become addicted! This series of 4 classes will get you started on your new gravity-fed obsession. We'll teach you all the basics you’ll need to feed the beast. Three classes will be local and taught by our Evergreen IMIC Certified Volunteer Instructors with DH racing experience ranging up to the Pro level! The final class will be an all day event at Stevens Pass!

    This series is designed for the solid intermediate rider who is new to the DH scene. This class is NOT appropriate for the beginner rider. Ages 15 and up.

    Local classes: Wednesdays - 3hrs. July 24, 31, Aug 7. Locations vary. The first class will be at Duthie Hill Park in Issaquah.
    Stevens Pass: Sunday, August 11th. Full day.

    Timber Music Festival! Ride at Tolt Sunday, July 28th - 10:00 AM

    Explore the rolling, winding singletrack of Tolt/McDonald Park as a fine ending to a weekend at the Timber Outdoor Music Festival (http://timbermusicfest.com.

    This ride is ideal for intermediate cross country riders, though more advanced riders will have fun too. Pace will be social - no one left behind. Meet at 10:00am by the swinging bridge in the yurt meadow and plan to ride for 2-2.5 hours.

    A mountain bike in good working order and a helmet are mandatory. Water, spare tubes, a basic bike tool set and snacks are recommended.

    Evergreen Dirt Riders Club for Kids - Duthie Session 3 - Week 4 Tuesday, July 30th - 5:00 PM

    Let's Ride! The Dirt Riders Club is for kids ages 8-13. We'll meet once a week for 5 weeks and ride for 2 hours.

    We’ll start each session with warm up drills, then hit the trails, exploring twisting single track, rallying over roots and logs, and playing balance and agility games. Groups will split by age and ability. Bring a working mountain bike and helmet.

    Evergreen Intro to Enduro Racing/Adv. Trail Series - Session 2 Tuesday, July 30th - 6:00 PM

    Have you thought about trying an Enduro event or just want to improve your trail riding skills?

    Evergreen is offering an Enduro training series meeting once-a-week for 4-weeks. The first two sessions will be at Duthie Hill Park and weeks 3 and 4 will be guided trail rides at varying locations. With an emphasis on skills and feedback, this will be an opportunity to practice what you learned and pick-up some valuable riding techniques. We will focus on body positioning, high speed cornering, technical climbing, roll downs, drops, switchbacks and braking techniques. This series caters to the intermediate / Cat 2-3 rider who is comfortable with a 2 to 3 hour continuous ride at a moderate pace. Come improve your skills and get acquainted with this exciting new trend in riding!

    Ages 18 and up.

    This series will be taught by our experienced racing instructors.

    Evergreen Women's DirtDiva Series - Session 3 - Week 4 Wednesday, July 31st - 6:00 PM

    This one is for you Ladies!

    Tired of trying to keep up with your riding buddies? Don’t feel like getting off your bike for all those obstacles in the trail? In this 4-week series we will take time to focus on one or two skills for the day and spend lots of time on the trails mastering it. This is for the beginner woman rider who wants to get more comfortable with the mountain biking basics and build on their skills.

    We will meet once a week for 4-weeks and ride for 2hrs. Come prepared to have fun! We guarantee you will be a new rider by the end of this series. This is for ladies ages 14 and up. We welcome individuals, families and groups.

    Some of the skills we will be covering are basic body positioning, braking, climbing and descending, getting over obstacles, cornering, rolling down small ledges and more. Pace will determined by the group. No one will be left behind and you will get lots of individual instruction and feedback in a supportive women-only environment.

    Evergreen 4-week Intro to Downhill Series w/ Stevens Pass - Week 2 Wednesday, July 31st - 6:00 PM
    Lead instructor: Evergreen Location: Duthie Hill
    Week 2 of our 4-week Intro to DH Series.

    Ever wonder what the DH buzz is about? Have you been wanting to check out the Whistler scene but are intimidated? Sign-up for our new Intro to Downhill series and become addicted! This series of 4 classes will get you started on your new gravity-fed obsession. We'll teach you all the basics you’ll need to feed the beast. Three classes will be local and taught by our Evergreen IMIC Certified Volunteer Instructors with DH racing experience ranging up to the Pro level! The final class will be an all day event at Stevens Pass!

    This series is designed for the solid intermediate rider who is new to the DH scene. This class is NOT appropriate for the beginner rider. Ages 15 and up.

    Local classes: Wednesdays - 3hrs. July 24, 31, Aug 7. Locations vary. The first class will be at Duthie Hill Park in Issaquah.
    Stevens Pass: Sunday, August 11th. Full day.

    QUALIFICATIONS: To participate in this series you must either meet the qualifications listed below, or have similar abilities/experience. Please email the instructors if you have questions.

    Riding: min. 2yrs of solid riding
    Local Trails: Tokul West, Tokul E. - Last Frontier
    Whistler: B-Line, Crank It Up, Heart of Darkness, Ho Chi Min
    Duthie: Boot Camp, Ryan's, Step-It-Up, 2-Hi
    Skills: technical trails without getting off the bike much, can do small drops (1’) easily, comfortable lifting your front wheel over obstacles
    Racer Category: Cat 3

    *Already entrenched in the DH scene but want the opportunity to pick up some tricks and new techniques?
    For those with more DH experience under their belts that want a little fine tuning, there is the option to participate in the 1-day clinic at Stevens Pass on August 11th. Please visit our Evergreen 1-day DH Clinic page for more details and requirements. Space is limited to 5 people.

    Evergreen instructors are professionally trained and certified through the IMIC and Endless Biking. Our instructors are a diverse group of experienced, trained riders that are passionate about mountain biking and are excited to pass on their hard-earned knowledge to both new and seasoned riders. This series will be taught by our experienced DH racing instructors ranging up to the Pro level.

    If you’ve taken a few classes or have been trail riding consistently for awhile and are ready to improve, this 4-week series will get you there. Each class will focus on one or two skills and we’ll master it on the trail. We’ll learn how to get over logs, carve berms, tackle skinnies, drop it like it’s hot and soar over jumps. This series is aimed at the intermediate level rider. We do not recommend it for beginners. This is for adults ages 15 and up. We welcome individuals, families and groups.

    We will meet once a week for 4-weeks and ride for 2hrs. Come prepared to have fun! We guarantee you will be a new rider by the end of this series.
