Frequently Asked Questions

Please check our list of answers to frequently asked questions. If you still have a question, feel free to drop us an email.

Q: Do you hold Boot Camp in the rain?

A: Maybe! A light drizzle will not cancel Boot Camp. The only time we will cancel a class is if it is raining steadily the day of class or if the trails are still too wet to ride on due to previous rains.

Q: How will I know if Boot Camp is cancelled?

A: We try our best to notify you by email. We also post cancellations on our schedule page. Please check the schedule if it is raining the day of class.

Q: My bike is really old. Does that matter?

A: We have a saying around here: 'It ain't the bike, its the rider.' We say that a lot. Honest. That said, your bike should be in good working condition and designed and equipped for off-road use.

Q: What do you mean by 'designed and equipped for off-road use'?

A: You should have a mountain bike for Boot Camp. A 'cross' bike can work in a pinch, but does not offer the stability of a mountain bike. Also, your bike should have knobby tires. No slicks! Your brakes must stop and your gears must shift.

Q: Do I need suspension forks for Boot Camp?

A: NO!

Q: You guys are great! Do you do parties?

A: Well, yeah ... sort of. We can sometimes arrange a special Boot Camp for groups of ten or more people. Please contact bootcamp@evergreenmtb.org for more information.
