Announcing the Mount St. Helens Advocacy Fest 2010 ! This active volcano and its surroundings contain epic backcountry adventures for all level of riders. From lunar plains to old growth forest, Helens offfers spectacular scenery and exciting riding for everyone. Helens Fest is a new concept in fun and advocacy brought to you by Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance (Evergreen) and the Northwest Trails Assocation (NWTA). Mountain bikers from 5 different states will be converging on Marble Mountain Snow Park for camping and good times. There will be multiple guided/group rides for all different levels, events, prizes, and demos (imagine comparing new bikes on REAL mountain terrain. We just welcomed New Belgium brewing and their new Ranger IPA ale as partners for this event ! More Info:
Sandwiched between two epic days of riding, Saturday will host the biggest most bitchin' trail work party ever. Working with the Forest Service and the Mount St. Helen's institute we'll
show bicyclist's commitment to the Monument and protect our access no matter what the future holds. This summer will mark the 30th anniversary of the big eruption and we'll make it worth your while to come out and give back - and with so many bodies and preparation we will make a big difference on some singletrack mileage ! Besides the official 3 days of the event, I personally plan on adding more days of epic big mountain riding and I encourage other groups and leaders to do the same whether it be Juniper Ridge or the Lewis River. Its still early but we'll be posting a full roster of riding for Friday and Sunday.
The dates are July 9-11 so sign up to get information and mark it on your vacation calendars for next year as it will be 3 days or more of epic mountain bike camraderie, advocacy and backcountry experience.
Please sign up for the 9th and we will use that as our email information list. The 10th and 11th are just placemarkers on the calendar. Note my name may be listed as ride leader on this posting, but I'm just one of many people helping put on this great event.
