REI Duthie Hill Earth Day Service Project Saturday, April 18th - 9:00 AM
Crew leader: Mike Location: Duthie Hill

2008 REI Duthie Hill Park Service Project

Join REI and the Evergreen Mt Bike Alliance for an Earth Day service project at Duthie Hill Park Saturday April 18th from 9am to 3pm. If you can't stay for the whole day or only want to work a couple of hours, that's great too. We'll be building a brand new beginner Cross Country Mountain Bike trail from scratch... literally... we've scratched in the line and on Sat we're going to grade and bench it into the final product. Fun!

More Info:
WHERE AND WHEN TO MEET
Meet at the Duthie Hill Lodge. Address: 27101 S.E. Duthie Hill Road, Issaquah, WA. Google maps will get you there. Be there by 9am at the latest... we'll sign in, go over a quick intro to the park and safety briefing, then head into the woods. If it's really wet, we'll carpool down to the south side of the park and drive in along the maintenance access road.

FOOD & DRINKS
Bring plenty of water, some lunch/snacks and a pack for carrying it. Because we'll be hiking into the woods over relatively rugged terrain, carrying bottles of water by hand won't work. Hydration packs like Camelbaks are ideal.

DON'T FORGET TO BRING
Eye protection, rain gear, work gloves and solid footwear. Even though it may be nice weather, it's going to be wet. Eye protection is very important -- branches will be snapping back in your face and dirt/rocks can fly up from using a McLeod or Pulaski.

Also, the northern entrance into the park is pretty wet right now and it's not always easy to keep you're feet from sinking in. So waterproof boots are a big plus.

WHEN WE'RE DONE
We'll start wrapping up around 2:30pm and be back to the cars by 3:00pm.
