Vote Coming Up on New Lake Whatcom Trail System and County Park– Show Your Support via Email, Mail or In Person
If approved, the Lake Whatcom Reconveyance will transfer approximately 8,000 acres in the watershed with steep side slopes from DNR to Whatcom County Parks in order to protect them from future logging and ensure better water quality for the area. An amazing side benefit is that this land will become a county park with a trail network that would likely tie into Galbraith and other areas creating truly epic riding potential.
With a bunch of our trails being logged, closed, and/or threatened by closure lately, here's a very good opportunity to add an area just outside of Bellingham where legitimate trails will be developed in the near future. You can help protect more than a quarter of the watershed for drinking water, wildlife, and recreation!
The public meeting is scheduled for:
May 22, at 7 pm, in downtown Bellingham
