Evergreen's Executive Director Steps Down

Dear Evergreen members and interested parties,

It is with great regret that I announce that John Lang has decided to step down from his position as Executive Director of Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance. His last day will be September 1. John has worked hard for us in the last 15 months. We are sorry to see him leave, and appreciate the work that he has done.

During his time as ED John helped Evergreen make some great strides in advocacy. We have attained a seat on the WA DNR's Sustainability Work Group and an appointment to the Snoqualmie Unit Advisory Committee. We have worked with the Mountains to Sound Greenway, State Parks, and Snohomish County, Kent, and Redmond. John's leadership and hard work were key in establishing these positions.

I believe that any news about our leadership must include an acknowledgement of our recent challenges. Over the past few months many of you have voiced your opinions/concerns about the direction and operation of Evergreen. While many of you are already in tune with the good work that we've accomplished over the past several years, there are also some who feel that there are areas for improvement. We plan to move forward with our Town Hall Meeting on September 1st and hope to come away from it with a greater understanding of our community and what you want from us going forward.

The Board of Directors is working to devise a plan for the immediate and long term future of the organization. We have some critical decisions to make about how we're going to allocate our resources and prioritize our obligations, but please rest assured that we plan to honor our commitments, goals and mission.

Thank you.

Jennifer Lesher
President, Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance
