Summary of Position

Volunteer mentors play a vital role in our youth program at Evergreen. We are looking for teens who love mountain biking and enjoy working with others to achieve a common goal. This is a very fun and rewarding volunteer position assisting coaches and riders in weekly camp programs. Evergreen Mountain Bike Dirt Camps offer opportunities for youth ages 7-17 to develop mountain bike skills, including basic mechanics fixing flats to single track skills, and trail maintenance.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate needs to be passionate about Evergreen’s mission and vision to make Washington State the best place to ride. We are looking for someone with a mature and safe demeanor. The candidate must be ready to work with a team of coaches to lead youth mountain bikers through games, drills and rides.

Key Responsibilities

  • Punctuality in order to greet campers and set up props.
  • Act as a role model and mentor for campers.
  • Assist coaches with setting up drills, leading games and group rides, and managing groups of campers.
  • Act as a positive role model with safe and conservative behavior.
  • Find creative solutions as challenges arise.
  • Perform minor bike repair skills
  • Have fun and share stoke!

Desired Skills / Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills & a personable and positive attitude.
  • Mountain bike experience (no need to be an expert rider).
  • Stamina to ride continuously for 30-45 minutes at a time over the course of 4 hours
  • Enjoy leading and teaching youth mountain bike skills & trail stewardship.

Reports to: East Education Coordinator

Job Locations:  Camp Sekani / Beacon Hill MTB Park

Compensation:  This is a volunteer position

We will be reviewing and accepting applications through the end of March. The interview process will begin in early April. CPR training will be in late May, and camp training will begin early June.
