Summary of Position

Evergreen is looking for lead coaches who will mentor other coaches and lead daily programming to provide safe, fun lessons to campers. Evergreen Mountain Bike Dirt Camps offer opportunities for youth ages 7-17 to develop mountain bike skills, including basic mechanics fixing flats to single track skills, and trail maintenance.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate needs to be passionate about Evergreen’s mission and vision to make Washington State the best place to ride. We are looking for someone with a professional and safe demeanor who feels comfortable taking the lead and making decisions. The candidate must work well as part of a team, delivering mountain bike instruction and communicating with parents, fellow coaches, students, and other park users. Reliable transportation is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee operations and logistics of coaches and campers on site.
  • Provide excellent customer service to parents and other trail users.
  • Manage assistants and mentors on site
  • Teach youth bike safety and skills.
  • Ensure that Dirt Camp policies and procedures are followed by all coaches and mentors while establishing and maintaining a good working relationship.
  • Ensure all paperwork is completed and Evergreen procedures and curriculum are followed.
  • Act as a positive role model with safe and conservative behavior.
  • Find creative solutions as challenges arise.
  • Perform minor bike repair skills
  • Have fun and share stoke!

Desired Skills / Qualifications

  • Great communication skills & a personable and positive attitude.
  • Mountain bike experience (no need to be an expert rider).
  • Stamina to ride continuously for 30-45 minutes at a time over the course of 4 hours
  • Enjoy leading and teaching youth mountain bike skills & trail stewardship.
  • Ability to drive a large vehicle towing a bike trailer is a huge plus!

Employment Requirements

  • 18 years or older. 
  • 2-years minimum of mountain bike experience.
  • 2-years of teaching and coaching.
  • Advanced camp coaching will require a secondary interview “on-bike” and advanced training.
  • Attend Evergreen’s Instructor Training in the Spring.
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings & weekend days if the job requires.
  • Must have current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Pass a background check from DataQuest.

Reports to: Central Education Coordinator

Job Locations: Available locations Squilchuck State Park; Leavenworth Ski Hill; various school and park sites around Wenatchee

Hours/classification:  Non-exempt. Hourly.

Compensation: Starts at $20  per hour

Benefits:  Accrued paid sick time (1 hour per 40 hours worked), worker's compensation coverage, access to industry pro deals, and an optional participation in a 401k plan after 90 days of employment.
